The mission of the Nevada Speech Language Hearing Association (NSHA) is to promote the practice of quality speech, language and hearing services for children and adults throughout the State of Nevada and to provide leadership in the issues that have an impact on our profession.
A Message from the President...

Greetings!   I would like to introduce the 2010-2012 executive board.

Janine Baldis, M.A., CCC-SLP – President

Laura Howard, M.A., CCC-SLP – Co-Vice President

Karen Klopfer, M.S., CCC-SLP – Co-Vice President

Jody Mancuso, M.A.., CCC-SLP – Treasurer

Mary Bittle, M.A., CCC-SLP – Secretary

I would like to acknowledge the outgoing executive board for their dedication and hard work.  Thank you for a job well done!

I would also like to welcome Mel Cohen, Ph.D., MBA, CCC-SLP as our newly appointed SLP Advisory Council Member.  I would like to welcome back Nancy Kuhles, M.S., CCC-SLP as our SEAL, Jemila M. Fairley, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA, as our Audiology Advisory Council Member, and Diane Ross, M.S., CCC-SLP as our STAR/SMAC representative.

I am honored and look forward to serving this association as president for the next two years.

The NSHA officers started our term of service with participating in the 2010 ASHA Schools Conference at the Mirage in Las Vegas.  A record twelve hundred participants were reported to attend.   I was honored to give the welcome address and represent Nevada professionals.   The NSHA executive board members in partnership with the Political Action Committee (PAC), hosted a reception for Congresswoman Dina Titus.   The evening allowed ASHA representatives, NSHA board members, and other invited guests from Nevada to interact with Congresswoman Titus regarding our concerns for recruitment, retention, reimbursement, and the reauthorization of IDEA.

The 2010-2012 term brings new and exciting opportunities for us all.   As we gear up for our term of service, we invite you to be involved.   Monthly meetings will be held at Nevada State College with a conference call to the Continuum in Reno.   Please check the website for dates and times.

Your membership in your State Association is greatly appreciated, and we are your voice throughout Nevada.   We honor your hard work and professionalism by advocating every day on your behalf.

Sincerely,
Janine Baldis, M.A., CCC-SLP   2010-2012  NSHA President
