NSHA Executive Board 2010-2012

 

President

Janine Baldis, M.A., CCC-SLP
Janine received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from Whittier College and her Master of Arts in Education (Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology) from San Jose State University.  She has been employed with the CCSD for twelve years.   She currently works with K-5 and preschool aged students.   She has previously presented inservices and a professional development course with emphasis on therapy techniques used with early childhood special education students.  She has served as a member of the Speech and Language Department's Organizational Committee and RTI task force.  She has previously held the office of Business Manager and President-Elect of NSHA.

Position is vacant. We are currently seeking nomiations of interested individuals. The President-Elect must be froma Northern County since the current President is from the Southern Region. Please contact us to volunteer or nomiate someone for this position.

Co Vice-Presidents

Karen Moss-Klopfer, M.S., CCC-SLP

Karen received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Speech Pathology from the University of Nevada, Reno.  She has worked as a Speech Pathologist in the Las Vegas area since 1990, and has been employed with the CCSD for seven years.   She currently works with preschool and K-5 students.    

 

Laura Kelley-Howard, MA CCC-SLP

Laura graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with bachelor degrees in Communicative Disorders and Spanish. She received her Master of Arts in Communicative Disorders from San Diego State University in 2003. During graduate school Laura worked in the Bilingual Language Development Lab at SDSU and completed additional coursework, including over 100 clinical hours, to earn a certificate in Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology. Laura has held a state license and has worked in Nevada, California and Minnesota. She worked with adults in the hospital setting for over five years, including acute care, sub acute rehabilitation, skilled nursing and out patient therapy. She has also worked in the pediatric hospital setting, including being a member of the developmental assessment team and providing acute care and out patient therapy services. Laura is currently employed by Progressus Therapy and the Clark County School District, completing evaluations for Project Child Find, as well as providing services to students in preschool through grade 5.  She has completed leadership projects designed to enhance overall cultural competence in the practice of speech-language pathology, and has served as a member of the CCSD Speech and Language Department's RTI and ELL task forces.


Secretary

Mary Bittle, M. A., CCC-SLP

Mary received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Utah in 1982.  She practiced as a nurse for 20 years before becoming a Speech Language Pathologist.   Mary graduated from San Jose State University in May 2002 with an M. A. in Communicative Disorders and Sciences.  She was awarded her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology in May 2004.  She has been employed with the CCSD for twenty years.  She currently works with preschool and elementary school aged students.  She has presented inservices with an emphasis on Internet Resources for SLPs, Parent Partnerships, Multiple Use of Therapy Materials and Early Childhood Special Education Therapy Techniques and Materials.  She has served as Secretary of the CCSD Speech and Language Department’s Organizational Committee the past two years.  She previously served as the Secretary of NSHA.  She has received three Awards of Continuing Education (ACE) through ASHA.

 

Treasurer

Jody Mancuso, M. A., CCC-SLP

Jody received her Bachelor of Science (1992) and Master of Arts (1994) degrees in Speech Language Pathology from Trenton State College (now known as The College of New Jersey).   She was awarded her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology in April 1995.  Her first 9 years of employment were in the private practice area, servicing young children and the geriatric population.  She is currently employed by Clark County School District (since 2002), servicing special needs students in early childhood classes and elementary schools.

State Education Advocacy Liaison - SEAL

Nancy Kuhles, M.S., CCC-SLP
Nancy is retired from Washoe County School District. Nancy was instrumental in passing legislation to provide Nevada's school based SLPs with a 5% salary supplement. She also works diligently as the co-chair of the Coalition to address Nevada's personnel Shortages.

STAR/SMAC

Diane Ross, M.S., CCC-SLP
Diane has been a speech language pathologist for many years. She owns The Continuum in Reno, Nevada where multiple outpatient therapies are provided for patients of all ages. Diane works tirelessly for fair insurance reimbursement for speech therapy provided in private practice settings.
