CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The 2010 Annual Convention of the Nevada Speech-Language Hearing Association (NSHA), entitled “Colleagues, Collaboration, & Change,” will take place March 20 & 21, 2010, in Reno, Nevada at the Grand Sierra Resort located at 2500 East Second Street, Reno, Nevada.  NSHA conducts the annual convention as an opportunity for earning continuing education hours through ASHA CEUs, conducting the annual business meeting, and connecting with colleagues and friends.  The convention will focus on collaborating among disciplines as well as current trends and issues in speech and language, research, assessment, and intervention.

A pre-registration form is found on the last page of this brochure.  The registration deadline is March 8, 2010.  Early registration is due postmarked on or before February 28, 2010. See fees on last page. After March 13th, a registration refund (minus a $60 processing fee) will only be honored by the Board with submission of written proof of emergency. Non-emergency refund requests will not be honored.

CREDIT OPTIONS . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Nevada Speech-Language-Hearing Association is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology.  This program is offered for 1.6 CEUs, Intermediate level; Professional area.  ASHA CE Provider approval does not imply endorsement of course content, specific products, or clinical procedures.  The Department of Education, State of Nevada is offering (1) one recertification credit for attending 16 hours of professional development (pending approval). 

Additionally, the Nevada Speech Language and Hearing Association is in the process of seeking program approval from the American Academy of Audiology for Tier 1 CEUs.  For more information on our progress with this, please email info@nvsha.org.

 

LODGING OPTIONS . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The Grand Sierra Resort has Luxury Summit rooms available for $99 / night (single/ double occupancy).  You just need to call 1-800-648-5080 and mention Nevada Speech Language Association to get the conference discount.  ***Rooms must be booked by February 19, 2010 in order to receive this discounted rate.   

 

TRANSPORTATION . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

A complimentary shuttle, designed to hold up to 26 passengers, is provided to and from the Reno/Tahoe International Airport for the convenience of all Grand Sierra Resort hotel guests.  This shuttle is not intended for and cannot be arranged for the use of group transfers.  All guests are welcome on a first come, first serve basis.  The shuttle departs the airport every 30 minutes on the 15 and 45 minute mark of the hour; beginning at 5:15 a.m. with the last airport pick up at 11:45 p.m.  The shuttle can be met across from the baggage claim area.  Total trip is one and a half miles to the Grand Sierra Resort. 

 Note:  Departure from the Grand Sierra Resort is every 30 minutes on the hour and the half hour beginning at 5:00 a.m. and ending at 11:30 p.m.
